Years ago, I was a vegetarian. I’m not really sure why I decided to become a vegetarian. I was in the 8th and 9th grade and it just seemed like a good thing to do at the time. My friends weren’t doing it. It wasn’t cool (nor was I). It sadly wasn’t even for something righteous like animal rights or even for the health benefits. I just did it. There are times still that I would like to go back to my vegetarian ways (for the health benefits this time) but, my meat eating husband and kids would be less than happy and I must admit, giving up the occasional hamburger or steak would be a bit of a bummer for me. In fact, it was a hamburger that made me give up my vegetarianism to begin with. Unfortunately for me however, the hamburger wasn’t that great. It was cooked in a hurry, in the rain, on a campfire and, it didn’t have this seasoning on it. Which, is too bad because if it had, had this seasoning, I would have felt a lot less guilty at the time!
This hamburger seasoning is insanely good! I made it on a whim one day and was clearly impressed by the results. The smoked paprika gives it such a good flavor and the burgers smell amazing while cooking! You can use turkey or beef for your burgers. Either way, if you use this seasoning they’ll turn out delicious! It is definitely my families favorite burger seasoning and I bet, if you try it, it will be your families favorite too!
The BEST Hamburger Seasoning
Yields About 2 Tablespoons
1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
2 Teaspoons Dried Minced Onion
1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1/4 Teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
Mix all of the spices together until well combined. Store seasoning mixture in an air tight container.
To make burgers, use 1 heaping tablespoon of seasoning per pound of ground meat. I like to mix my seasoning right in with the meat but, you can sprinkle it on if you prefer. Enjoy!
