This past weekend, we had my youngest daughters second birthday party. I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that my baby is two already but nonetheless, her party turned out great! I decided on a lemonade themed party and it was a hit! The room was decorated in yellow and pink and I served lemonade (of course), lemon angel food cake, and a watermelon-lemon ice, among other things. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoy the food which, in my book is a success! Most importantly, the birthday girl was happy as could be and was more than a little spoiled by all of her friends and family! She was also spoiled with a glass of this honey lemonade!
Honey in lemonade is kind of genius. When you add the honey to the lemon juice and water, it gives it a beautiful yellow color. The color is reminiscent of that found in the bottled or powder mix variety but, by using the honey, you are able to achieve the appealing coloring without having to consume the dyes and additives found in the premixed kind. The honey does more than color the lemonade however. It also gives it a lovely sweetness and an overall smooth taste. This refreshing summer drink is sure to satisfy!
Yields 12 Cups
2 Cups Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
10 Cups Warm Water
3/4 Cup Honey
1 Lemon, Sliced Thin (optional)
In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice water and honey. Stir well until honey is completely dissolved. Add in sliced lemon for garnish (optional). Chill in the refrigerator for several hours or add ice into the pitcher or a glass and serve immediately. Enjoy!
